Misrepresenting yourself on your resume can result in a job offer being revoked. Or, if discovered later, it can lead to you getting fired. While you should try to present yourself as the best candidate for the job, you should do it accurately and honestly. Resist the temptation to pad your resume.
You do not need to start from scratch every time you send a resume. But it is worth the time to take a few minutes to align your resume with the job posting for your target job. This can include editing the professional summary section at the top of your resume to highlight your skills and experience that are most relevant to what the employer is looking for, or revising some of the wording you use in your resume to match with the language used in the job posting.
Use grammar checker have a friend check your work and proofread several times before hitting send. If you do not mess up in any of these ways, you will be in a good position to smoke your competition. These are some of the most common resume mistakes, and if you do not make them you are already proving yourself to be worth an interview, at least.
