Space on your resume is limited. Often including references (or references available upon request) is a waste of valuable real estate. If the employer wants references, they will ask. Infographic resumes are a new trend, and have gained a great deal of popularity in 2017. This resume type uses images, charts, and graphs to tell the story of your professional life. Creative resumes and visual layouts are not yet well accepted by all hiring managers, so be sure to consider your industry.
Proofreading seems like a given, but hiring managers still receive plenty of resumes with embarrassing typos and other errors. Do not just dash off your resume and send it. Once you are finished, step away from it for at least a few minutes and then come back and give it a thorough read for mistakes. Better yet – have someone else take a look. Fresh eyes are more likely to find errors.
