Your resume is much more than a compilation of your work history; it is a tool that lets hiring managers know that you are the candidate they have been hoping for. Recruiters and hiring managers have seen every type of resume format imaginable. For maximum wow-factor, you must build a resume that highlights your industry-specific experience, accomplishments, and credentials, as well as important skills.
Do not let your resume go on longer than one page. If you take a look at a few different resume samples – you will see that all of them are typically one page or less. Take out anything that your employers wont really care about, like how you volunteer for your daughters Girl Scout troupe. Only include volunteer activities if they are relevant to the type of work you do.
Get to the point. Employers do not want to waste time reading a lot of meaningless babble. Only include the most important, relevant information when createing your resume. Do not write run-on sentences or long lists of adjectives. When employers are going through a huge pile of resumes, they do not want to stop and decipher anything. Get to the point.
